Landslide hits Char Dham route : 15k tourists stranded

char dhamLandslides and flash floods are common in the Himalayan state of Uttarakhand and Once again landslide hits Char Dham route, halting the yatra of Thousands who were stranded on way to Badrinath in Uttarakhand.

The landslide occurred near Vishnuprayag on Badrinath route and almost 15,000 tourists stranded. The incident occurred in one stretch of the route connecting Badrinath to Joshimath, around 300 km from state capital Dehradun.

In 2013, An estimated 5,000 people most of them pilgrims were killed due to flash floods.

The ‘Char Dham yatra’ is an annual pilgrimage to the Hindu sites at Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri
