Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Raghurama Krishnam Raju has demanded the center to treat cockfight as a traditional game like bull taming sport Jallikattu in Tamil Nadu.
Raju said , cockfights are part of the culture as they are traditionally organised during the Sankranti festival and 80% people want them. He argued that without cockfights, the festival will lose its significance.
Police in the two Godavari districts have strictly warned public that Cockfights are banned and those who violate will be punished.
However, in Godavari districts, Under political umbrella , organisers are making arrangements for cockfights. The money exchange would be between Rs.700 crore to Rs.800 crore.
