Kollywood is jealous over Tollywood with all its dubbed films failed in Andhra and the same time Telugu films sweaped the box office with high success rate in 2012.
One can proudly say that, 2012 is best year for Telugu Cinema and golden year for Tollywood in recent times . This year most of the top stars delivered blockbusters and also extended market to other regions. Eega which was released as bilingual has completed 50 days in Tamil (Naan Ee). No other Telugu film achieved this feat before. NTR’s last release ‘Dammu’ may be an average grosser here but it collected good shares in Sandalwood. Allu Arjun’s ‘Julayi’ is a blockbuster in Telugu as well as Malayalam. Mahesh Babu with Businessman, Pawan Kalyan with Gabbar Singh and Ram Charan with Rachcha tasted success this year.
Before this year, Tamil cinema has almost collapsed the market of Telugu cinema by releasing Tamil star heroes films in maximum number of theaters here and raked huge collections. But, situations changed now. While most of the Telugu films are scoring big hits here, the Tamil to Telugu dubbed films failed. Tamil films like Nanban (Snehithudu), Aravaan (Eka Veera), Saguni (Sakuni), Billa II (David Billa), etc. ended as disasters here in AP. So, really 2012 is a big year for Tollywood and hope our filmmakers continue the same from here on.
