K.A Paul to Contest By-Polls
Maverick evangelist K A Paul, who almost went into oblivion after creating a ruckus in the state when Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was alive, is back in action.
Now that his rival YSR is dead and so is his brother David, the evangelist has found it a right time to test his fortunes in the state again. He is said to be reviving his defunct political party – Praja Shanti Party, which did not see light of the day after the 2009 elections.
“I am planning to field candidates in the next round of by-elections to 18 assembly seats and Nellore parliamentary seat,” he said.
And Paul’s election plank is also the same as that of the Congress and the Telugu Desam Party: corruption of YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
“The corruption has become all pervasive. Unfortunately, the corrupt leaders are trying to make it big in politics. We will counter their moves,” he said.
However, one wonders whether they are any takers for his political party. In the 2009 elections, Paul had to give a call to the independent candidates to contest on behalf of his political party. He had even boasted that he would defeat any leader in the country, whether it was YSR or Chandrababu Naidu or Chiranjeevi, if he contests against them.
