Jayaprada to return to AP state politics
Expelled Samajiwadi Party MP and actress Jayaprada today stated that she would return to Andhra Pradesh politics before 2014. Talking to media persons after offering prayers to Lord Venkateswara at the hill shrine of Tirumala here on the occasion of her birthday, she said she wished to join the state politics and sought the blessings of Lord Venkateswara for the same purpose. Lauding the services of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N Chandrababu Naidu, she described Mr Naidu as a sincere politician with good leadership skills to take the state forward on the development path. When asked over her joining in TDP, she asked media to wait and watch till 2014. However, she refused to respond on YSR Congress President Jagan Mohan Reddy. It may be noted that the actress-turned-politician was initiated into the Telugu Desam Party by her former co-star N T Rama Rao in 1994.
She later broke away from him and joined the Chandrababu Naidu faction of the party.
She was nominated to the Rajya Sabha representing Andhra Pradesh in 1996. Later after differences with Mr Naidu, she joined the Samajwadi Party. Here also her tenure was short as she was expelled from the party along with her mentor Amar Singh
