Justice B. Chandra Kumar vacation judge of the High Court on Wednesday posted the hearing to Thursday of plea by Jagati Publications challenging the order of the special CBI court in upholding the CBI’s freezing of its bank accounts. Jagathi Publication, Indira Television and Janani Infrastructure owned by YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy moved a lunch motion against the order of the CBI court contending that the freezing of accounts by the CBI under Section 102 Cr. Pc.
The petitioners told the court that the relevant Section defines that any police officer may seize any property which may create suspicion of the commission of any offence. They contended that this Section was not applicable to their case. Meanwhile, the judge granted a week time to V. Vijaya Sai Reddy, an accused in Jagan assets case, to file counter affidavit on the plea by the CBI seeking cancellation of bail granted to him by the CBI court.
The judge posted another plea by the CBI to Thursday seeking cancellation of bail granted to B.P. Acharya, prime accused in Emaar scam.
