Hyderabad-based IVRCL has denied any negligence in the construction of the flyover in Kolkata that collapsed on Thursday killing 25 people.
Infrastructure company IVRCL washed it hands in taking the responsibility of Vivekananda Bridge collapse that took place in Kolkata.
The complaint said its an ‘Act of God’ that it was in no one’s control, said IVRCL legal head Sita .She said, IVRCL never compromised on quality and construction and handled many prestigious projects. She said there is no case of intelligence. The material used in constructing 59 pillars, was used in the 60th pillar also. it was an accident and cannot fix responsibility on anyone, she said.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced an ex-gratia compensation of Rs. 5 lakh to next of kin to the victims and Rs. 2 lakh to gravely injured people.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday condoled tweeting “Shocked and saddened by collapse of under construction flyover in Kolkata. Took stock of the situation and rescue operations,””My thoughts are with the families of those who lost their lives in Kolkata. May the injured recover at the earliest,”.
