“Scrutinizing of 12 to 13 files pertaining to YSR Congress President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s assets are in different stages and Director General Investigation has been entrusted the responsibility for the same,” said Chief Commissioner of Income Tax Department JK Hota revealed. He refused to disclose the details about ongoing investigations into Jagan’s assets and Gali Janardhan Reddy matter.
Mr. Hota informed that the Department received Rs. 44.39 Cr of income tax returns in the first quarter of the year 2012 with NMDC as the biggest remitter in corporate sector Rs. 650 Cr. At the same time IT department received 2, 79, 669 complaints last year in which more than 2, 38,720 cases were solved while remaining 40,000 cases are pending.
There is Rs.10, 000 Cr of income tax arrears of last year are yet to be recovered. This year the department was expecting about 1, 40, 000 income tax returns while 35, 000 tax payers have already submitted their returns. Last date to file the returns is July 31st and department established 12 counters in Income Tax Tower, AC Guards and 12 excess counters in Aayakar Bhavan, Basheerbagh to facilitate the remitters.
The Chief Commissioner appealed the remitters to make sure that PAN Number and their Bank Account MICR code are mentioned correctly in the form to avoid any inconveniency. Customers having income more than Rs.10, 00, 000 per annum should have to compulsorily file the returns.
