Ineffective drugs prescribed to Stroke patients


heart-arrrestAccording to AIIMS study Citicoline, Piracetam, and Edaravone are the three drugs being prescribed to eight lakh stroke patients in north India over the years.

The study says, these prescribed neuroprotective drugs are not recommended by clinical practice . It was revealed that, medicine such as blood pressure lowering agents such as statins, and antiplatelet agents which were found being actually effective were not being administered to patients.

The report has been submitted to the union health minister as things may further worse if these drugs are continued. There are 1.67 million stroke case reported in 2015.
