IBM to train college students to build a skilled workforce

IBM Academic Initiative (AI) and Institute of Electronic Governance (IEG), a non-profit orgtanization created by Government of Andhra Pradesh today signed a renewal of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to build a pool of skilled resources from across various colleges in the state. The MoU was signed between Academic Initiative, IBM India Ms Malathi Srinivasan and AP Society for Knowledge Networks CEO Amarnah Reddy Atmakuri in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Information Technology (IT) Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) here. Speaking on the occation, Ms Malathi said ‘We are happy to be working with IEG in Enabling students with the latest tools and technologeis. We are confident that this partnership will help studetns acquire market ready and relevant skills, thereby building a competitive IT workforce’, she added. Mr Amarnath Reddy highliting the need for industry-academia partniships said ‘ There is a strong need to develop government-industry collaborative relationships to build a health pipeline of skilled workforce. This initiative will help build the much needed edge in technical competency of the studetns in the state’. IBM and IEG have been working together for the past three years in the state and trained over five thousand students, Mr Reddy said and added with this agreement 50000 more students will benefit across the state though a series of training, certification and real-life problem solving project work that will help them to be industry ready and relevent.
