Noted Christian evangelist and president of the Praja Santi party, K A Paul has complained to the State Human Rights Commission that doctors of the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), hyderabad were branding him as a lunatic, instead of treating him for his illness. He has urged the Commission to direct the doctors to provide him better treatment. Responding to his complaint, the HRC has issued notice to director of the NIMS to give a report within two weeks.
Paul said in his complaint that he had developed health problems when he was incarcerated as an under trial in Ongole. As there were no medical facilities at Ongole, he was shifted to Guntur and as he was not satisfied with the facilities available there also, he had requested for shifting to Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad, he said. He said the police had shifted him to the NIMS instead. He has complained that the NIMS doctors instead of providing him treatment were heckling him and threatening to shift him to the mental hospital in Erragadda. He has also alleged that some prison officials were trying to kill him. He said police were vindictive and were trying to send him to Erragadda and planning to liquidate him. He has questioned the propriety of arresting him in connection with a murder that occurred two years ago. He said all this was political conspiracy. Paul was arrested in Ongole during the third week of May 2012, in connection with the murder of his brother David Raj.
