More than 1,000 people from various walks of life participated in thesecond edition of ‘Hyderabad Heritage Marathon’ that started at Chowmahalla Palace and ended at Golconda Fort covering 42 kms.
The marathon was held as part of World Tourism Week. Participating as chief guest in the prize distribution programme for the winners of Marathon, Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar called upon the voluntary organizations to come forward to conduct Marathon Rallies to create awareness about protection of ancient heritage sites. He congratulated AP Tourism and Hyderabad 10K Run Foundation for organizing the event to create awareness on protecting the heritage sites.
Stating that it was not only the responsibility of government toprotect the heritage sites, he said that it was the responsibility of each and every citizen to protect ancient historical sites. The organizers said that the marathon was aimed at creating awareness about distance running, fitness and the need to preserve and promote Hyderabad’s rich heritage.
