Tension prevailed at Osmania University campus on Thursday, when police stopped pro-Telangana students, who were taking out a “OU Students Kavath” a rally from the campus to the state Assembly, at the NCC gate of the varsity, on the eve of the Konda Lakshman Bapuji Birth day. While the students alleged that police has stopped them even after several request made by them for a peaceful rally . They said , This rally would demonstrate the rally that is going to be held on 30th sept and they wanted to show everyone that Telangana March would be a peaceful rally.
The clash started at around 12:00 am after hundreds of students under the aegis of Telangana Vidhyarthi Parishad and other unions tried to take out a rally demanding that the government for the region’s freedom . Though the students were warned that permission for their rally had not been granted, they argued with the cops and started climbing the gates as of now. The tension might grow further in coming hours. The police had barricaded the OU road and diverted the traffic on Thursday morning.The east zone police, Commissioner’s Task Force, Rapid Action Force, and the Andhra Pradesh Special Police were deployed at the spot.
