In protest against the unscheduled power cuts and State Government’s failure to supply quality power to farmers in Telangana region, the activists of Telangana Rashtra Samithi staged a massive dharna before the Vidyut Soudha at Somajiguda today. Raising slogans against the government, the activists led by Siddipet MLA Harish Rao and TRS Floor Leader Etela Rajender staged protest. They also had heated arguments with the police when it prevented them from barging into Vidyut Soudha building. However, the police foiled their attempts and took them into custody and shifted them to Bolaram police station.
Siddipet MLA Harish Rao said, “farmers in Telangana region are facing piquant situation as the government was not taking any relief measures. Power crisis in State is caused mainly due to inefficiency of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and due to lack of fore vision. Chief Minister should either solve the power crisis or submit resignation from the post owning moral responsibility. Government should also complete power projects in the region on war footing basis to tide over power crisis.”
Meanwhile, protesting against the arrest of TRS leaders, the TRS Vidyarthi has gave a call for burning the effigy of State Government across Telangana districts. TRS Vidyarthi Vibhagam president B. Suman termed the arrest of TRS leaders as illegal as they were staging demonstration in the interests of farmers.
