As we all know, Cigarette Smoking is injurious to health, it may cause cancer and other complications, But what happens after quitting smoking ?
A new study of weight gain after quitting finds that ex-smokers may end up packing on a few more pounds than they expected.
About 80 per cent of smokers put on weight after they quit. The causes of weight gain may include the effect of nicotine on the body, and the ex-smoker’s inclination to eat more food.Smoking can have an effect on a person’s metabolism and thus quitting can account for a small weight gain in some individuals.
While smoking, Nicotine from tobacco boosts the body’s metabolic rate, increasing the number of calories it burns. Immediately after you smoke a cigarette, your heart rate increases by 10 to 20 beats a minute. After quitting this doesn’t happen, which leads to increase in weight. Take a smart diet to avoid weight gain.
