The much-awaited results of the bitterly fought Assembly polls, which saw a political Mahabharat contest between the two leading parties – the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress, goes in favour of ruling BJP.

Region-wise, the BJP is leading in South (35) with 25 seats, North(32) with 14 seats, Central(61) with 36 seats; whereas Congress is leading in the Saurashtra Kutch region with 30 seats.
