Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel has resigned as Chief minister citing her age as reason for resignation.
Anandiben Patel said, she is now 75 years of age and she is grateful towards BJP for the amount of responsibilities she has been trusted with over time, by the BJP high command. She said, Senior BJP leaders initiated a great tradition of voluntary retirement after they turn 75,which also paves way for next generation. Keeping in view upcoming polls and vibrant Gujarat Summit, she requested party leadership 2 months back,to relieve her of her responsibilities so new CM gets adequate time for preparation.
Party chief Amit Shah confined about her resignation letter, He said, They have received Anandiben Patel ji’s letter. Her letter will now be kept before the BJP Parliamentary board for further decision.
Reacting on her resignation Congress leader Ahmed patel said, The Gujarat Chief Minister’s resignation is an indication of BJP’s sure defeat in 2017 elections.
