Govt suspends cop in call leak case

The State Government today suspended Nacharam Circle Inspectorof Police Srinivasa Rao in connection with the leakage of call data record (CDR) of the mobile phones of CBI Joint Director Lakshmi Narayana and his classmate and social activist Vasireddy Chandra Bala. Cyberabad Commissioner Tirumala Rao issued orders suspending CI Rao who allegedly gave the CDR to a correspondent of ‘Sakshi’ newspaper, owned by YSR Congress Party Chief and Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy who is currently lodged in Chenchalaguda Jail in Disproportinate Assets Case. Polce also registered a case against Saskhi Reporter Yadagiri Reddy under Information Technology Act 2000 and Indian Telegraph Act.

The CI is charged of obtaining the call data using the e-mail ID of the Deputy Commissioner of Police without his consent. The CBI Joint Director is presently investigating the high profile cases related to YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s Disproportinate Assets, Illegal Mining Case involving Former Karnataka Minister Gali Janardhana Reddy and Emaar Properties Land Scam. Ms Chandrabala also approached the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) on June 22 seeking a direction to restrain Sakshi TV from airing news pertaining to her. Based oncomplaint from her, the Commission had earlier dircted the City Police Commissioner to enquire and submit a report before July two.
