Govt enhances Muslim mass marriage incentive

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has enhanced the incentive of Rs 15,000 being given in kind to each poor Muslim couple under Mass Marriage Scheme to Rs 25,000. In a press release here today, Minister for Minorities Welfare Mohammed Ahmadullah said the Chief Minister has agreed to the enhancement on his representation. He said the enhancement is imperative in the light of the increased prices of the marriage articles being provided under the scheme. The Minister said representations from various corners of minority communities, leaders and voluntary organizations have been received and some district Collectors also recommended the proposal to enhance the incentive in this regard. The Minister thanked the Chief Minister for his kind gesture and appealed the poor Muslim couples to avail the opportunity through Andhra Pradesh State Minorities Finance Corporation (APSMFC), the release added.
