In a major development, Andhra Pradesh government has cancelled the MoU held with Brahmini steels promoted by former Minsiter and Iron ore Baron Gali Jasnardhana Reddy, who is currently lodged in jail at Bangalore in the illegal Obulapuram Mining Case (OMC). In this connection, an MoU was entered by the then Chief Minister Dr YS Rajashekhara Reddy with the Brahmini steel for establishment of the steel plant near Jammalamadugu in Kadapa district, which enable to provide jobs 10,000 people through direct or indirect employment. The company was also alloted over 3,000 acres of land at Ambavaram in Kadapa district for the construction of airport and none of these works have started. Cancelling the agreement, a 7-page GO 99 was issued by the Industry and Commerce department stating that the company has violated the MoU norms and regulations. TDP senior leader and leader of the opposition in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council Mr.Dadi Veerabhadra Rao also raised the issue in the council on several occasions highlighting the lapses of steel company which pledged the land allotted by the government to AXIS bank against the government’s MoU.
