G.Vinod back as HCA boss

Former State Minister, G Vinod, is back as the President of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA). Although, elections to the Association will be held on July eight, Vinod was elected unopposed by the Return Officer, A Narasimha Reddy, who released the list of candidates for the crucial elections here today. The task was made easier when Arshad Ayub announced his decision to opt out of the Presidential race on Saturday, the last for withdrawal. This will be Vinod’s second stint as the President. Meanwhile, close contests are likely for all the other posts as two groups are vying for power at the hustings. The powerful group, headed by N Shivlal Yadav, who is seeking re-election to the post of Vice-President, has pitted incumbent D S Chalapathi against Dr M V Sridhar to the post of Secretary. Despite the fact that each post is being contested by both groups, cross-voting is feared because some have entered the electoral battle as independents. Meanwhile, there are two candidates for the posts of Treasurer and eleven are trying for the five vice-president spots. Even though, there will be only 12 members in the Executive Committee as many as 35 people are in the fray.
