From reality TV to the real world

The winner of Indian Idol 5, Sreeram Chandra, is going places. Besides playing the lead role in an upcoming film and participating in a TV show, the singer has lent his voice to the Telugu version of the Thumbs Up ad Aaj Kuch Toofani Karten Hain, starring Mahesh Babu.

Sreeram was roped in by musician Ram Sampath, the singer of the Delhi Belly fame. “It was great working with Sampath. He sang the original track and I sang the Telugu and Kanada versions. It was a great opportunity,” says Sreeram, who is acting in a mythological film. Besides that, he is part of the Star Plus show Jo Jeeta Wahi Superstar. Recently on the show, singer, Shaan, complimented Sreeram for his voice. “I am very excited about all of them, especially Sreeram. We all have huge expectations from him. I wanted him to sing Naadan parindey as he would render it beautifully in his velvet voice,” Shaan was quoted as saying.

The second season of Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar opened with Sreeram making his mark by singing like a pro alongside veteran Ustad Rashid Khan. Sreeram’s steady growth stands against the arguments of many who question what next after winning a reality show.
