Dr.B R Ambedkar remembered
A large number of processions from different parts of the city headed to Tank Bund to garland the statue of Ambedkar on the occasion of his 122th birth anniversary today. Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy paid tributes to Ambedkar by garlanding the statue at Tank Bund in the state capital. He lauded the services of Ambedkar and said he had fought for the caste-free society and against all forms of injustice heaped upon the downtrodden sections. PCC President Botcha Satyanarayana, Deputy Speaker Bhatti Vikramarka, Rajya Sabha MP K Chiranjeevi, several ministers and various political party leaders from besides several dalit organisation leaders also paid tributes to the leader. Meanwhile, to create awareness among the public on caste-free society, Santhi Chakra International organised ‘run for caste- free India’ at Necklace Road in the city. The run was being organised from Necklace Road to Ambedkar statue located at Tank Bund in the city. Among others, Deputy Chief Minister Damodhar Rajanarashima, Lok Satta Party Presient Dr Jaya Prakash Narayan and revolutionary poet Gaddar participated in the run. Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister Damodhar, who participating as a chief guest in Ambedkar function, announced to rename the Transport Bhavan located at Khairatabad in the city as ‘Dr BR Ambedkar Transport Bhavan’.
Meanwhile, TDP President and Former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who was on tour in Visakhapatnam district, paid tributes to Dr Ambedkar by garlanding his statue in Visakhapatnam.
He lauded the services of Ambedkar for the uplifting life of dalits.
