Prominent tech executives President-elect Donald Trump Wednesday at Trump Tower in New York for a high-profile summit.
Apple Inc. Chief Executive Tim Cook, Amazon.com Inc. CEO Jeff Bezos, Facebook Inc. Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg, Microsoft Corp. CEO Satya Nadella, Tesla Motors Inc. CEO Elon Musk, and both the CEO and chairman of Google parent Alphabet Inc., Larry Page and Eric Schmidt, CEOs of Intel Corp., International Business Machines Corp., Oracle Corp., Cisco Systems Inc. and Palantir Technologies Inc met the president.
The Silicon Valley luminaries sat a large round table and were joined by several members of the Trump administration including Vice President-elect Mike Pence, chief advisor Steve Bannon, and chief-of-staff Reince Priebus.
Donald Trump praised technology titans’ “incredible innovation” during a summit saying:
“I’m here to help you folks do well, and you’re doing well right now and I’m very honored by ‘the bounce’ — they’re all talking about ‘the bounce’ and I know everybody in this room has to like me a little bit, but we’re going to try and have that bounce continue. Perhaps even more importantly we want you to keep going with the incredible innovation. There’s nobody like you in the world. There’s nobody like the people in this room. You’ll call my people, you’ll call me. It doesn’t make any difference, we have no formal chain of command around here.”
Trump added, “We’re going to make it a lot easier for you to trade across borders.”
