Medical services at government hospitals across the state continued to remain affected as junior doctors’ strike entered third day today. Though the talks were held between striking doctors and government in a cordial atmosphere initially yesterday, the juniordoctors staged a walkout when they did not get a clear assurance on the demand for honorarium on par with specialists on government rolls. The doctors decided to continue their strike till the government yielded to their demand. The strike impacted even emergency services in all teaching hospitals, including Osmania and Gandhi Hospitals (Hyderabad), Kurnool Medical College, Rangaraya Hospital, Kakatiya Medical College and King George Hospital (Visakhapatnam) as junior doctors stopped attending to duty since September 3 last. Andhra Pradesh Health, Medical and Family Welfare Principal Secretary K Ratna Kishore urged the doctors to call off the strike keeping in view suffering of patients.
