Film director Dasari Narayana Rao’s son DTH Prabhu has received a set back in the maintenance case by his wife in the High Court.
The High Court has dismissed the stay orders issued by the Additional Family court on the magistrate court’s order to arrest him.
Prabhu and his wife Susheela got separated in 2002. Susheela has petitioned the magistrate court in Hyderabad in 2002 for maintenance. The court has directed Prabhu to pay her a monthly maintenance of Rs. 1000. She has appealed against the ruling in the district court and sought higher maintenance. The court has hiked the maintenance allowance to Rs. 2,500. Not satisfied with it, Susheela has appealed to the High Court, where the maintenance was further increased to Rs. 10,000 a month.
However as Prabhu was not paying it, Susheela filed another petition against him in the magistrate court. The court has directed the police to register a criminal case and arrest Prabhu. However, Prabhu has appealed to the family court and got a stay on the magistrate’s order to arrest him. With this, both proceedings against Prabhu and payment of maintenance allowance to his wife were stopped. Susheela has once again approached the High Court, which has quashed the decision of the earlier court staying proceedings as well as payment of maintenance. The high court has directed the lower court to continue hearing of the case. The high court has also faulted the family court for stopping the maintenance allowance of the aggrieved person.
