ockhiKerala’s fishermen community on Sunday launched their own rescue operations with 55 boats venturing into the sea to search for those who have not returned. while 250+ fishermen from Kerala TN rescued by locals and officials of Lakshadweep midst of OCKHI cyclone. The death toll in Kerala rose to 19 even as stranded at sea off the state’s coast were rescued.

Union Tourism Minister Alphons Kannanthanam on Sunday said Ockhi cyclone can’t be declared as a national calamity as such incidents are not considered for it.

Cyclone Ockhi, which has caused widespread damage in Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts, some parts of Tamilnadu and Laskadeep, has changed its direction to move towards Maharashtra and Gujrat.

Forecast track of Cyclone Ockhi by IMD. Expected to cross the coast of Gujarat close to Surat between Dec 5 and Dec 6 as a deep depression. Winds during landfall will reach 55 to 65 kmph. Mumbai will also experience similar weather.
