CPI is planning to launch four news channels in four southern languages with Hyderabad as its headquarters. “We have in-principle decided to launch news channels in southern languages. It is still in discussion stage and a final decision will be taken by the end of this month,” Visalandhra Vignana Samithi president and former MLA Chada Venkata Reddy told .
There was a discussion at the CPI national meeting and it was decided to launch TV channels in southern languages, Venkata Reddy said and added that it included a Telugu news channel.
The discussion also came up at the launch of Visalandhra building in Hyderabad some time back and it was now under active consideration, the CPI leader said.Venkata Reddy said nearly Rs 30 to 40 crore would be required to launch the channel. “We will mobilise the required funds from the public,” he said.
It may be recalled that the CPM is also planning to launch its own channel in Telugu. The CPM channel would commence operations on next Ugadi.
