Court issues NBW against IPS officer

A local court at Nampally today issued a Non-bailable warrant (NBW) against senior IPS officer Umesh Kumar for not attending the court proceedings in the forgery case. The charge on the IPS officer and Godavari Authority Chairman was that he had allegedly forged documents with the signature of rajya sabha mp m a khan and complained against director general of police V Dinesh Reddy and his wife of owning assets execeeding their income. The Crime Investigation Department which conducted an enquiry into the case has filed a chargesheet against Mr Umesh Kumar and former Journalist Sunil Reddy and document writer related to the forgery case. The Nampally Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court which had taken the chargesheet for hearing has issued summons to the police officer to be present in the court. However, Mr Umesh Kumar contended in the court through a petition that he cannot appear in person and permit his counsel on his behalf for the hearing as he had work pressure as the Chairman. The CID officials told the court that the post Mr Umesh Kumar is holding doesn’t have more work and showed an affidavit to the magistrate filed in the court by Mr Kumar against the then Rosaiah government for appointing him in the present post. Taking into consideration the court disallowed his prayer not to present in person. As Mr Umesh Kumar had not attended for two adjournments related to the case in the court, the court issued nbw and adjourned the further hearing to June 21.
