CM requests Krishna to protect AP workers in Angola

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy today wrote a letter to External Affairs Minister S M Krishna to protect the 450 workers belonging to Andhra Pradesh who were working in Angola of West Africa and kept in captivity by their employers when they asked for payment of salaries. An official release here said the Chief Minister also directed the Chief Secretary to continously talk to the officials of the Ministry of External Affairs in this regard.

Reports said the police there had opened fire on the workers when they had demanded managements of two companies for payment of salaries. About 70 workers were kept in jail and some of them had sustained bullet injuries, the reports added.
