Chiranjeevi to address public meeting at Kakinada

Mega star and Rajya Sabha member Chiranjeevi will address a public meeting at Ananda Bharati grounds here on April 28 in connection with the swearing in ceremony of Dommeti Venkateswerlu as the East Godavari District Congress incharge President.

Union Minister of state for Defence M M Pallamraju will attend the function as the chief guest. Addressing a press conference here today, Minister for Stamps and Registrations Thota Narasimham said installation of Dommeti Venkateswerlu as the incharge president marks the launching of the election campaign for the by election in Ramachandrapuram. However, he said, Mr Chiranjivi will not visit Ramachandrapuram during this trip. He claimed that the Congress candidate Thota Trimurthulu would win with a big majority this time as people were vexed with the TDP and also with the YSR Congress party. Lashing at TDP president Chandrababu Naidu for the malicious campaign distorting the facts on excise policy and the Kakinada SEZ, the Minister said the TDP alone was to be blamed for the belt shops and the liquor syndicates Raj. He alleged Mr Naidu had lifted the prohibition and opened doors for belt shops making the liquor mafia ruling the roost. Even the Kakinada SEZ was also accorded permission during Chandra babu’s regime, Mr Narasimham said, adding he had issued the GO on April 23 2002 permitting the Kakinada Sea ports Limited to go ahead with the SEZ with private participation.

“Now to cover up his mistakes, the TDP President is conveniently spreading all sorts of canards,” he alleged.
