Chiranjeevi dismisses reports linking him with IT raids

Actor-turned-Politican and Congress Rajya Sabha Member K Chiranjeevi today came down heavily on the ‘Sakshi’ media for targetting him over the IT Raids on the office premises and residences of his son-in-law for alleged tax evasion in Chennai today. ‘I will not hesitate to file a defamation suit against ‘Sakshi TV’ Channel and Daily for telecasting false news linking me with the IT Raids,’ Mr Chiranjeevi said while talking to reporters at his residence here. He said intially, his son-in-law’s father’s premises were raided followed by those belonging to his son-in-law. Mr Chiranjeevi said ‘I will not stop to such a level. The raids were held at my son-in-law father’s residence and business establishments but the channels deliberately linked me with political vendetta.’ He said it was not correct to indulge in propaganda without verifying the facts and asked journalist organisations to realise both press freedom and personal freedom were equally important. On YSR Congress Party President Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s disproportionate assets case, Mr Chiranjeevi said his father and late chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy used to say law will take its own course and the same will be applicable to Mr Jagan also.No one can escape from the law, he said.
