Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N Chandra Babu Naidu has vowed to wage a relentless fight against the state government till justice is rendered to the Kakinada Special Economic Zone (KSEZ) affected people. Participating at a workshop organised here today in which leaders of political parties, non-governmental organisations and the KSEZ Vyatireka Porata Samithi took part, he said, the TDP would solidly stand behind the SEZ affected farmers in their fight for scrapping of the KSEZ and restoration of their valuable lands. ‘The government should have cancelled the KSEZ and restored the lands to the farmers when the ONGC backed out from its proposal to set up an oil refinery’, he said.
Instead, it has opened doors to realtors for exploitation. Lands were forcibly purchased from the farmers at a throw away price of Rs 3 lakh per acre’, Mr Naidu alleged and said lands were registered in the name of a single individual–Mr KV Rao– much against the land ceiling laws and other rules.
