CBI Court postpones verdict on Acharya’s bail plea

Wednesday : The Principal Special Court of CBI at Nampally today postponed the judgement till tomorrow on the bail petiton of IAS Officer B P Acharya who is an accused in the Emaar Township Scam. Acharya’S Counsel Surender Rao, while presenting his arguments before the CBI Judge A Pullaiah, asked how his client could be held responsible when the Centre failed to give permission to the CBI for prosecuting him. Mr Rao said the CBI was solely responsible for the delay in getting permission from the Centre and asked when the investigating agency knew that it had to get permission from the Centre and the State Government, why it wrote letter only to the Centre. The IAS Officer’s advocate also brought to the notice of the Judge that after the Centre criticised the stand of CBI, it had written letter to the State Government. He also questioned the CBI on why it was taking exception when the state government asked its opinion on Acharya’s queries as per the Vigilance Commission guidelines. The CBI Judge, after hearing the arguments of Acharya’s counsel, deferred the verdict on his bail petition till tomorrow
