Cauvery Dispute: Tamil Nadu Bandh gets Partial response

rail-rokoTamil Nadu state went shutdown over Cauvery Issue , Hitting the Normal life of the public. The Bandh is said to be partial as the ruling AIADMK has taken measure to run government offices.The bandh did not affect functioning of state and Central government offices in Tamil Nadu.

Demanding Cauvery water from Karnataka as ordered by the Supreme court ruling, Tamil nadu opposition parties have called for a bandh today.Private milk and petrol distributors, auto-rickshaw and omni bus drivers, traders have supported the bandh call.

Top opposition leaders including M.K. Stalin and Kanimozhi of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), and Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) chief Vaiko have been arrested while participating in Rail Roko .

Stalin was arrested while attempting to stop trains and his sister Kanimozhi was arrested as she staged a road block in Chennai while Vaiko was arrested during the protest in Tiruchirappalli.

DMK and VCK workers today staged ‘Rail Roko’ protest in Tamil Nadu’s Hosur. Tamil Nadu farmers association also staged a ‘Rail Roko’ protest at Saidapet .

All the opposition parties including DMK, Congress, MDMK, Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), Trinamool Congress (TMC), CPI (M), CPI and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) participated in the bandh.
