Blow to Duvvada Jagannadham in Telangana region from July 1st as the multiplexes prices hiked from 150 to 200 and single screens 80-100 to 120.
It is the goods and services tax (GST) effect, the common man’s entertainment will now cost more. Moviegoers in Telangana state have to shell out more to watch movies in theaters.
The government issued these orders on June 23, Some places have already increased ticket prices on Friday last with the release of Allu Arjun’s ‘DJ’.
But from July 1st the hiked prices will be implemented in all theaters which might lead to lesser footprints to theaters, the occupancy might go down until the common man reboots his mind to accept the change.
Trade experts say this may affect the newly released DJ collections in the second week. But the positive outcome was DJ was most benefitted by the hike of Tickets prices in Nizam in its first week. It has already made 16+ crores in 5 days.
