Black Panther sighted after a Decade

blackpantherFirst, ever after a decade, Black Panther sighted in Sundargarh forests. Footage captured repeatedly by camera traps installed in Garjanpahad Reserve Forest of Hemgir Range, says Chief Wildlife Warden Dr Sandeep Tripathi.

Black Panther spotted at Hemgiriforest Sundargarh for the first time since 1993, when it was spotted at similipal .They are present mostly in southern, western & northeastern part of India.

Hemgir connects tiger lands of Orissa with Achanakmar-Kanha landscape. It’s in dire need of protection as a wildlife sanctuary.

Camera traps first spotted a melanistic (black) tiger in Similipal Tiger Reserve in 2007. Melanistic leopards are found in Kerala, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Goa, Tamil Nadu, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
