Bhanu remanded to judicial custody till May 4

Crime Investigation Department (CID) produced before the Magistrate at West Maredpally here last night Malishetty Bhanu Kiran alias Bhanu, who was arrested after more than 15 months in the sensational murder of Anantapur faction leader Gangula Suryanarayana Reddy alias Suri. Bhanu, the prime suspect in the murder of Suri, was remanded to judicial custody till May 4 and shifted to Cherlapalli jail after a medical check up he was arrested yesterday by CID police. Bhanu was involved in as many as 15 cases, including Suri’s murder and several cases of extortion and land settlement.

The CID police investigating nine cases, including the Suri murder case, one case was booked in Vijayawada and five within Hyderabad and Cyberabad police commissionerate limits.

A .32 revolver with six rounds, which he allegedly used to kill Suri at Navodaya Colony near Yousufguda in Hyderabad on January 3 last year, has been recovered from him.

After the murder, he fled with the aid of his associates Manmohan Singh, Sulam Subbaiah, Venkata Hari Babu and Boya Venkata Ramana and others. The other suspects were arrested by the Central Crime Station(CCS). The case was transferred to the CID while Bhanu remained at large.
