YSR Congress chief Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy has asked the legislators loyal to him to wholeheartedly support his mother Vijayamma in the event of his arrest in the disproportionate assets case filed against him by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
“The Congress party is indulging in a smear campaign that I will be arrested shortly. I have not committed any mistake to warrant arrest. But, if I am arrested, all of you must work under the leadership of Vijayamma and take the party programmes forward. Go to the people with her and work with them,” Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy was quoted as advising the 16 MLAs and six MLCs at a meeting at his residence here on Tuesday.
Sources said the YSRCP chief said that even if he was arrested as part of the Congress government’s bid to fix him, the party would function without any disruption. “As and when possible, take Vijayamma to the Assembly and function as a responsible opposition. Do not hesitate to raise people’s issues,” he told the legislators.
The YSRCP president entrusted the task of coordination to senior party legislators and asked them to guide the other members. He told the MLAs not to worry about their disqualification from the Assembly. “We have done our best to insist that the disqualification petitions should be expedited. It is for the Congress to decide when they want to disqualify you,” he said adding that all the loyalists would come out in flying colours whenever the by-elections were held.
Shoba Nagi Reddy told Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy that she, along with Pilli Subash Chandra Bose, has met the Speaker and sought an office for the YSRCP leader Vijayamma.
