Intense lobbying has begun for the prestigious Chairman post for the Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam (TTD) Board, the highest decision making body of the world famous Venkateswara Swamy temple as the tenure of the present board members came to an end today. Senior Congress leader K Bapiraju, who was nominated to the post of TTD chairman on August 24 last year, also trying to get another extention. Among those who in the race for the Chairman’s post are Guntur MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao and former MP and former TTD chairman T.Subbarami Reddy and another former TTD chairman DK Adikeshashulu.
Rajya Sabha MP K Chiranjeevi, who played active role in the recently held tirupati by-elections, also reportedly lobbying to get the post for his brother-in-law Allu Arvind. Sources say, He also discussed this matter when he met Madam Sonia Gandhi yesterday and requested her to give (atleast) TTD chairman to Allu Arivind but Ms.Gandhi believed to have said that its still under consideration. If Chiranjeevi is made AP-PCC president replacing Bosta Satyanaraya then its hard for Allu Arivind to be TTD chairman.
