AP govt pass bill to give 5% reservation to Kapu community

kapuAndhra Pradesh government passes a bill to give 5% reservation to the Kapu community. This crosses the 50% limit set by the Supreme Court for backward communities and this is not the first state to do so.

Kapu caste is very progressive in Andhra and many representatives from their community in assembly & parliament and other plum posts.

Andhra Pradesh CM N.Chandrababu Naidu exchanged sweets with ministers from Kapu community after introduction of bill for providing 5% reservation to Kapus in the state.

Naidu said, We held discussions with leaders of Kapu community. They said they don’t need political reservation. Only education and employment reservation is enough. So we proceeded with that.

Kapu Reservation bill passed without the recommendations of the Manjunath Commission which was appointed for 3 plus years ago.
