AP Assembly stalled for fourth day

The proceedings of the Andhra Pradesh State Legislative Assembly were stalled for the fourth consecutive day today with Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) members stalling the proceedings, demanding adoption of a resolution for formation of Telangana state. The Assembly was adjourned twice in the day as TRS and BJP insisted that the House pass a resolution on separate Telangana statehood and the Speaker Nadendla Manohar finally adjourned the House for the day after paying tributes to freedom fighter and former Minister Konda Lakshman Bapuji, who passed away here this morning. As soon as the house assembled for the day, the Speaker rejected the adjournment motions moved by the opposition parties including TDP on fee reimbursement, YSRC on farmers issues, CPI on power and CPM on Ashram schools. The TRS and BJP legislators, who moved the adjournment motion on the Telangana resolution, trooped into the Speaker’s podium and raised slogans of ‘Jai Telangana’. As there was pandemonium in the House, the Speaker adjourned the House for an hour. When the house re-assembled, there was no let up in the TRS and BJP protest for the resolution.
