Afghan Girl arrested by Pakistan police

afghan-girlAfghan Girl, Sharbat Gula , who was the symbol of Afghanistan refugee and her photographic taken by journalist Steve McCurry which appeared on the June 1985 cover of National Geographic, has been arrested by Pakistan police.

Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) after a two-year probe in Peshawar, near the Afghan border. arrested Sharbat Gula for allegedly applied for an identity card in April 2014, using the name Sharbat Bibi. Sharbat Gula could face a fine and up to 14 years in jail or deported to Afganistan.

Pakistan hosts 1.4 million registered Afghan refugees and further one million unregistered refugees .
