ACB arrests liquor syndicate leader, ex police inspector

The sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a liquor syndicate leader Vaddepally Mohan Reddy and ACB ex-police inspector B Somnarayan Singh in the liquor scam case. The duo was produced before Principal Special Judge Court for ACB cases. Judge remanded them to judicial custody till April 17. An ACB release said here this evening that Mohan Reddy had 15 A-4 wine shops in Medak district, Shadnagar of Mahaboobnagar district and Mominpet of R R District and was an associate of Balaraj Goud, who was arrested by the ACB a few days back. He obtained licences of A-4 liquor shops in the names of his relatives and workers and formed syndicate in three districts for the purpose of co-ordinating with the various enforcement agencies to facilitate his illegal activities in the business. The release also said when the ACB had conducted searches in some liquor syndicate offices in December, 2011, Somnarayan Singh, who had previous association with Mohan Reddy alerted him about the searches in advance and advised him to destroy all the records being maintained in the syndicate offices, and obtained pecuniary advantage. Accordingly, the liquor syndicate leader alerted his associates who maintained records in different districts which led to destruction of crucial records, the release said
