Abuse case on Shankar Rao

Even as the protests ensued over the former Minister and Secunderabad (Contonment) MLA Dr P Shanker Rao’s treatment by the police in 2011 land case, another case was today booked against him for allegedly threatening and abusing a cop yesterday. Following a complaint lodged by Neredmet Circle Inspector P Srinivas, a case was registered against Rao under sections (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty and criminal intimidation) of the IPC by the Musheerabad police. In November 2011, a criminal case was registered against the MLA, his brother P Dayanand and three others for allegedly duping the owners of housing plots in Green Field Colony at Naredmet. Police wanted to question Rao in connection with the case after the High Court lifted the stay on his arrest last year and went to his residence at Musheerabad last evening. In his complaint, the police inspector accused Rao of intimidating and using vulgar language while he was about to serve a notice to him in the land case at MLA’s residence. Rao was currently in ICU at a corporate hospital located at Banjara hills and his condition was stated to be stable.
