Investments in the electronics sector – Andhra Pradesh aims to attract Rs.40,000 crore & create 4 lakh jobs in the sector by 2020.
1) Foxconn has set up manufacturing plant in Chittoor; jobs created: Phase 1 – 6,000 jobs; Phase 2 – 1,000 jobs.Capacity of the plant: Phase 1 – 1 million smartphones; Phase 2 – 2.5 million smartphones.
2) Xiaomi partnered with Foxconn to manufacture their phones. Launched their 1st India-made smartphone in Visakhapatnam.
3) BEL – Setting up a defence system integration complex in Palasamudram of Anantapur district with Rs. 500 cr.
4) Gionee partnered with Foxconn to manufacture its F & P series smartphones, with an investment of Rs. 300 crore.
Others companies that are present are Reliance and BHEL in the electronics sector.
Upcoming projects – Venkateshwara Mobile & Electronics Manufacturing Hub will house Micromax, Celkon, Karbonn and Lava. Together, the four brands are aiming to produce more than 7 crore devices at the production hub every year. They will be investing Rs 2,000 crore in phases at the hub, located near Renigunta airport, Chittoor district.
AP govt started acquiring land for 3 new airports;will invite private developers soon. It has delivered almost 11 percent growth in FY16;aim is to clock 15 percent. It has identified 58 engines of growth;will make Andhra Pradesh the Number1 state.
