Although, it’s the battle of Silpa and Bhuma families , who were arch rivals in the district, but now its seems to be the battle between Naidu and Jagan.

While the YSRCP chief Jagan took the elections more personally and stationed in Nandyal for more than 15 days and campaigned for the party , putting all his guns on Naidu.

In 2004 – Silpa Mohan Reddy won on Indian National Congress against TDP candidate.
In 2009 – Silpa Mohan Reddy won on Indian National Congress against PRP candidate
In 2014 – Bhuma Nagi Reddy – YSR Congress Party against TDP candidate Silpa Mohan Reddy.

After 1999, TDP has not even won for the single time in Nandyal . TDP is out of power in Nandyal for 13 years.

Sources say the cost of this prestigious election would be around Rs 100 crore to Rs 300 crore as Jayaprakash Narayan, founder, Loksatta said it could be more than that figure. Rs 3000-5000 cash may be spend to bribe each voter is the talk.

After YSRCP filed a complaint at Election commission, On the instructions of the EC, DGP N Sambasiva Rao has transferred Nandyal DSP SV Gopala Krishna.
